HEADING SOUTH FOR THE WINTER.

Spider alert.  The first image is a spider.

We decided to try going south for one more time.  This will be a little different not having a place to spend most of the winter but there is a lot of country we haven't explored down there.  We are going to Grand Junction, CO first to visit our friends who we haven't seen for five years.  We met them during our years in Caliente at Florence, AZ.

We had planned on departing and crossing the border tomorrow but ran into a bit of a problem.  I recently got new glasses and the other day I was getting them adjusted in Penticton when the lady snapped them.  She found another frame the same and put my lenses in then  proceeded to break them.  So, she finally found another frame to put the lenses in so I could drive home and they ordered a new pair.  They put a rush on the new set but it would appear that they will take the same amount of time as usual.  When I checked on Thursday the glasses were in transit.  Since they didn't arrive Friday we're hoping they arrive tomorrow and then we can leave Tuesday.  I didn't make any reservations in advance so at least I don't need to be changing any.

Today's photos were all taken close to home.

The resident Canada Geese fly north in the morning and south in the evening.

Great Blue Heron at the dam.

Our local Ospreys have long since departed on their way to Central and South America but this guy showed up a few days ago and spent a few days gorging on fish.  He seems to have carried on south.

The Magpie was hopeful there would be some scraps to share.

A few minutes later he had another fish and it was wiggling furiously so the Osprey kept using his wings to stabilize himself as you can see he is using just one foot on the branch.

This lone Trumpeter Swan has been at Vaseux Lake for several days.
