SIGNS OF FALL.

We transitioned from summer to fall very quickly this year.  We welcomed some much needed rain which knocked down the wildfire smoke and cooled things off.

We bought a forty pound box of tomatoes.

We canned 32 pints and ate the rest fresh.

Spotted Lake near Osoyoos is a saline endorheic lake.  It contains dense deposits of magnesium sulfate, calcium and sodium sulphates plus high concentrations of eight other minerals as well as lower amounts of silver and titanium.

We saw these Sandhill Cranes overhead on our walk a couple evenings ago.

A GENERAL RIDE.

We had a nice day recently so we took the General for a ride up in the local hills.

But first here's a photo of the Entrance Island Lighthouse as we departed Nanaimo on the way home from the Island.

And our neighbour June's sunflowers.

Almost looks like we're enjoying ourselves.  And why wouldn't we as we had the whole area to ourselves and the temperature was just right.

BAMFIELD.

On our second last day on Vancouver Island, I was lucky to be invited along with my brother Charlie when he went to inspect a building at Bamfield which is a remote little community on the west coast of Vancouver Island.  The previously not so good gravel logging road is being chip sealed and will be vastly smoother to drive when completed.  We enjoyed what had been completed so far.

While Charlie did his work I took my camera and went for a stroll.  Brady's Beach was my destination but along the way I found Scott's Cove which I enjoyed as it was more photogenically (my word) pleasing.

West Bamfield has a great scenic boardwalk.

This old fallen tree has nurtured and protected several other trees, hence the term Nurse Log.
