PHOTOS FROM ANOTHER WALK AILEEN AND I TOOK THE OTHER DAY.

Maple.

Poplar or Aspen.

Male Downy Woodpecker.

Fancy scroll work on the tree. I'm guessing done by bugs.

BACK TO ENJOYING OUR FALL COLOUR WHICH WON'T LAST MUCH LONGER.

The first seven photos were taken while walking one morning.  The last nine were taken on an ATV ride in the hills.  The three in the middle were taken on a drive above Vaseux Lake.  We ventured up into the snow yesterday for photos of the beautiful Western Larch trees.  I have at least one more post before we get to the larches though.

Looking across the valley to See Ya Later vineyard.

Ponderosa Pine.

I wonder who laid those eggs on the Sumac.

Several Western Bluebirds and a Song Sparrow.

Sumac after a light rain.

Can you see the face in the rock?

Blue Elderberries among the fall colour.

It's amazing what you see when the leaves come off.  I've been very close to this numerous times over the year and didn't know it was there.

Out on the ATV trails.

Well the beaver effectively closed the lower road!

That tree is well over a foot across.  It will take a big chainsaw to open the road again.

WE'LL GIVE THE FALL COLOUR A REST TODAY AND VIEW SOME ANIMALS.

On Thursday I took a drive up above Vaseux Lake and found some bighorn sheep.  Then on Friday we drove up to Kelowna for a bit of shopping and spotted the mountain goats just north of Summerland.  Knowing there was a frontage road below the highway I drove down it until I could get a decent photo.  On the way home there were three more a little further south and again there was a frontage road to get me in position for more photos.

The boys were feeling a little rambunctious. And yes that is a pun.

The ram thought he's trap the ewe against the fence but she had other ideas.

Well, I guess I'll just follow.

Here I am again.

After the ewe took off running he decided to play with the boys instead.

Mountain goat taking his leisure.

These ones in the afternoon were on this cliff face licking some kind of mineral off the rocks.

Quite the contortions.

It must be good because they were pretty serious about it.
