SOCKEYE SALMON IN THE OKANAGAN RIVER

On Friday I took one of my big cameras for a walk up the river to see if I could capture some of the Sockeye Salmon that are trying to spawn in their home waters.  I sat on a rock for quite a while and took a lot of shots in order to get a few keepers.  Always fun to watch nature happening.

You'll notice this one is missing an eye for some reason.

This is head and tail of the same fish, they bend well.

This one got out of the current and into the rocks and had quite a time making it safely back to the main stream.

He got pretty exhausted and rested like this for a long while.  It isn't as serious as it looks as his head is actually in the water.  After making a supreme effort with a series of flips and flops, he was free.
