MOVED UP TO CAMPBELL RIVER.

Well it’s been awhile since my last post.  Life has been moving quite fast for us and there just isn’t enough hours in the day to do what I want to do.  I was able to borrow my old quad from my brother Charlie and went on a ride with brother in law John R then another that was much more challenging with my friend Ernie.  I was the only machine without power steering and it was pretty tough on this old body.  However, it was a splendid trip with great scenery.

We had a family gathering in Charlie and Sheila’s backyard for Aileen’s birthday and four of my siblings were there.  Two couldn’t attend due to illness and the other maybe didn’t get the message as it was a late decision to do it.  Richard and Georgia came up and spent three nights with us to help celebrate Aileen’s birthday.  Then it was Georgia’s birthday the day they went home so we had a bit of a birthday lunch for her with her Aunt Nancy and Uncle Brian who were house sitting in Qualicum not far from where we were.

We spent about 9 days at Charlie and Sheila’s this time.  Their son Wayne from Alberta was out with his family so we got to spend a bit of time with them.  There were four of C&S’ grandchildren between 4 and 6 there much of the time so we were well entertained.  One day we visited our old RV friend Verona in her new digs at Origin at Longwood in Nanaimo.  She took us out for a nice lunch after a thorough tour of her facility.  We moved up to Campbell River yesterday and are spending a few days parked at Aileen’s cousin Tony and Rita’s place.  It is so nice to have several relatives who welcome up to park in their driveways.

Wildflower in the bush at Charlie and Sheila's. I think it might be a Candy Flower.

I was hoping for a nice sunset at Qualicum Beach but had to settle for these light rays.

The remains of a Golden Buprestid Beetle Richard found on the ground.

Some people were poaching Red Cedar wood for making shakes using this old canoe they cut in half.  They would load the canoe then put the heavy mesh tarp over the wood to contain it then used a winch of some sort to pull it out of a deep gully.
