A TWO DAY COLD SNAP CREATED SOME OPPORTUNITIES

We had a couple of mornings down to -9C (18F) which caused some neat ice formations to appear.  Fog one morning also created some hoar frost.  The temperature has moderated again so we're back in blah mode and the ice has disappeared.

A WALK AND A DRIVE YESTERDAY

I did my usual morning walk up the river trail yesterday then after Aileen had her after lunch nap we went for a drive to the higher country to check out more winter.  We drove up through one of the areas impacted by recent wildfires.  There is lots of salvage logging happening trying to recover what value they can before it's too late.  Our early winter caught a lot of trees with their leaves on or in the case of the Western Larch, their needles.  The yellows and oranges against the snow were striking when the light was right.

A FEW FROM YESTERDAY WHEN THE SUN CAME OUT

Today’s forecast was that we would have pure sunshine all day.  That didn’t happen as the valley fog kept us under dreary skies all day.   I didn’t do my morning walk up the river trail and instead put up some Christmas lights around the porch.

YESTERDAY'S ENDEAVOURS

I did my usual walk up the river trail mid morning and played with a few birds.  Later in the afternoon the sun came out so Aileen suggested going for a drive.  That's how we got to see the sheep right across the highway from Vaseux Lake.  The vineyards look pretty now with their fall colour along with the snow.

Gee, I wonder why they call them Goldeneyes

The Goldeneyes panic thinking I mean them severe harm while the Mallard says no sweat!
