LOOKING FOR METEORS, AN ATV RIDE AND VISITING THE OCEAN

Out in the back field looking for meteors the other night

Six of us in three machines went exploring a new set of trails today.  This was the end of the road, about 3600 feet elevation gain.

BACK TO ERRINGTON, WOODPILE TIME

We moved back to Charlie and Sheila's August 2.  I put in four sessions on the hydraulic wood splitter then we hauled six big loads to the woodshed and filled it.  Aileen worked with me on the first four loads then Sheila took her place for the last two.  I have another session on the splitter to finish up the blocks on the ground then there is a huge pile to be stacked for next year's use.
There was a big party here on Sunday when seven or eight of Sheila's cousins and spouses came for a visit.
Aileen was happy to get to the shop to get her hair cut just after we returned here.  Today she is cutting Mitzy's hair and hopefully, mine tomorrow.  I took the new RZR for its first service yesterday in Duncan.  I visited my Cousin Dale for a few minutes then Susan, the lady who I took over as treasurer from to pick up the last bank statement.  After going for Chinese smorg for lunch, I went geocaching.  I found a nice little creek I knew nothing about and enjoyed wandering along it taking photos and exploring.  I did manage to get six caches as well.

These first three were taken with my Canon 6D handeld although I did rest the camera on rocks for the two water shots.

The deer were in a side yard in Crofton as I was driving through.  Taken with my Canon SX50

MOVING DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN

It has been cooler and quite windy here in Campbell River the past few days.  That's a change since the day we arrived when it was so warm.  I wandered off geocaching yesterday and did a lot of walking.
We are moving down to Charlie and Sheila's tomorrow for a bit.  This afternoon we are to visit Sheila's cousin who lives around the corner from Bill's.  We are going to Dick's Fish and Chips in Campbell River later this morning.  Aileen enjoys their gluten free fish.

Hauling logs by rail.  This is the longest operating logging railway in North America, apparently, at 90 kms (56 miles).

I enjoy wandering around these mountain meadows up high on the hills.  They are spared destruction as there is no merchantable timber.

Brother in law John  took me to Huson Caves Park one day.  Quite interesting how the water has carved its way through the limestone.

I was intrigued by how the water had sculpted this spot

NORTHERN VANCOUVER ISLAND PHOTOS

We have moved back down to Campbell River and parked at Cousin Bill's for a few days to regroup.  We had a great two weeks on the North Island and now I am way behind on posting photos to the blog.  I have at least two more posts worth of photos to come yet.  It as a bit of a shock to the body coming down to much warmer temperatures than we have experienced for the last while.
So, for those of you wondering about us, all is well.

THIS IS PART THREE OF THE JULY 21 POST, SCROLL DOWN TO SEE THE OTHER TWO.

Coastal rain forest, everything ends up green with moss

An overgrown logging road that we were geocaching down

We drove up past here for supper one evening.  This is looking down Johnstone Strait.  Note the tiny rainbow in the bottom of the photo.

We lucked out and had a couple hour window in the fog.  This is looking over the Broughton Archipelago toward the mainland of BC.  On our way back to the trucks, we drove down into what appeared to be thick fog but in fact, it rained hard.

There's ocean under that fog!
