As I was driving up to Penticton yesterday morning for my scheduled appointment for an oil change and brake job, I was surprised at how beautiful the reflection was on Vaseux Lake. When I found a spot where I could safely park, I was amazed to find the reflection was in clear ice, not water!
Then as I got to Penticton and was in the left turn lane to go into town, I spotted some neat ice formations off to my right at the mouth of the river channel. They were caused by the recent strong winds blowing lake water onto the shore. Since I was committed to my turn, It took me a few kms to get back to a parking lot where I was able to walk to the ice. When I got there, I found the best area fenced off but I was able to find some nice ice outside the fence.
These really are amazing, you're right: stunning objects, and great photos of them, too.
