THE MORNING OF OCTOBER 30 DAWNED WITH THE PROMISE OF SUNSHINE AND I KNEW JUST THE PLACE TO GO. PART TWO TO FOLLOW NEXT TIME.

I had spotted this little lake in the distance when I was ATVing a while back and had found the access road in to it some time later.  Last post when we went up the Mt. Baldy Road, we popped in to see what it looked like.  The lighting wasn't very good but I could see it had promise so when the weather gods gave me the opportunity, I jumped on it quickly and rushed up there with my camera gear.

The Western Larch trees were magnificent in their fall colour.

I was way up on a logging road on that mountain when I looked down and saw this little lake.

This could be a real puzzle to interpret but what is it?  It's a tree stump covered in frost and the patterns are chainsaw marks.

Still frosty in the shade.

This American Dipper appears to be pondering something.

The base of the log the Dipper was on.

Some Mallard hens with ice behind and larch reflections.
