A SHORT VISIT TO ALERT BAY, BC

Alert Bay is the last place one would expect to see some double decker buses

I walked on the ferry to Alert Bay from Port McNeill on Thursday and walked all about the village

Their are many totem poles in Alert Bay, this one is called Halibut Man

As a commercial center, Alert Bay is really on the ropes.  Most of the business type buildings are abandoned

This is part of the old Indian Residential School built in 1929.  The abuse and injustices to Indian peoples in these residential schools was a blight on Canada

Claimed to be the world's tallest totem pole at 163 feet

  1. Alert Bay is absolutely wonderful, I grew up there. The businesses are finally starting to pick up, and the town is really coming along. Thanks for stopping by.
