POST ONE OF TWO FOR TODAY

I have no idea what this is but suspect it to be a type of mould.  It grows on decaying logs and stumps in the wet climate of Northern Vancouver Island and lasts only a few days before turning slimy and evaporating.  It is striking in colour in the dark forest
